Congratulations to our own Chad Rorie, 2022-23 CMS CTE Teacher of the Year!

Mr. Rorie has been in Charlotte Meck Schools (CMS) for 20 years! Prior to coming into the Providence Automotive classroom, he spent twelve years working in the automotive industry at Reed Oldsmobile and Parks Chevrolet. It is this type of experience that gives Mr. Rorie the wealth of knowledge that he brings to his students, every day!

His favorite thing about teaching:

My favorite thing about teaching is the students. I have met some interesting characters over the years. I have kept up with a lot of them due to their career choices in the Automotive Industry.

What does his students say:

My students would say about me: Mr. Rorie is a busy man, he works for Providence, CTE and the Fire Department. They say they love the stories I tell them about the dealerships, Fire calls and EMS calls. Students would say we cut up some in class but in the shop area he means business- No Horse Playing. They would say; Mr. Rorie is all about the Safety in the shop- he does not want any student injured. They would say that Mr. Rorie loves his job.

As a CTE ambassador:

As teacher of the year for CTE – I am looking forward to continuing to spread the word about CTE. It is such a great program to have in the high schools. CTE kept me in High School at Independence High. I took Automotive and Marketing at Indy and loved it. I found my true passion in Automotive. If it had not been in the high school- I would have never found it. I am so grateful to be a teacher in CMS because I know we have leaders in CMS that know about and support CTE. Our students continue to do better on testing and are prepared for college and the workforce after High School.

His best advice for other teachers:

My advice for teachers would be: It is the best job in the world most days. Some days your patience will be tested. SO make sure you eat your patience cereal those mornings. The rest of the time is great. In CTE it is great- our students signed up to take our classes and our students want to be there and they want to learn.
