Five high schools from around the state gathered to compete at the
NC ProStart Invitational on Friday at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte. Over $600,000 in scholarships were awarded to the top
three teams in both Culinary and Management competitions.
South Mecklenburg High School swept the competition, taking first place in both Culinary and Management categories, receiving $185,500 in scholarships among their seven students. These students will go on to represent North Carolina against teams from across the country at the National ProStart Invitational in Washington, DC this May.
The winners of the 2022 NC ProStart Invitational are:
Culinary Competition:
1st Place – South Mecklenburg High School
2nd Place – Asheville High School
3rd Place – Ashe County High School
Management Competition:
1st Place – South Mecklenburg High School
2nd Place – Eastern NC Regional Skills Center
3rd Place – Smithfield-Selma High School
