Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology’s former CTE I.T. teacher, Dr. Sharon Jones (CMS 2008 – 2015), has committed her career to providing computer science accessible to all. She has been a dedicated, award-winning educator of computer science and technology for 17 years and throughout her career, she has created, implemented, and facilitated computer science workshops that apply the concepts of technology to everyday activities. Her work considers how computer science helps create new viewpoints, innovate, create power relations, produce knowledge, and make data and computing transparent, and accessible. Across her many projects, her goal is to make computer science inclusive and empowering. To that end, she founded the Dottie Rose Foundation in February of 2018. The goal of the Dottie Rose Foundation is to connect the dots within the technology and computer science sphere to educate, support, and inspire the next generation. The foundation’s vision is to create a supportive algorithm to close the gender gap for females in the field of technology and computer sciences.
