A huge congratulations is in order for Ardrey Kell’s John Glenn! Mr. Glenn is the 2024 CMS NCCAT CTE Teacher of the Year! Ardrey Kell High School Teacher Mr. John Glenn was named 2024 CMS NCCAT Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year this morning. A central office committee composed of district administrators and instructional support staff members reviewed all nominations based on a CTE-TOY selection committee rubric.
Mr. Glenn teaches students in the CTE Architecture and Engineering Pathway. A surprise patrol including Principal Jamie Brooks, other Ardrey Kell administrators, school support staff , his wife and CMS CTE central office members brought the congratulatory news to Mr. Glenn’s 2nd period class this morning.
Having worked in the home building industry for many years, John Glenn brings his knowledge of the field and related careers to his students. He provides projects to incorporate as many real-life experiences as possible. From the initial conceptional design topics related to architecture and engineering all the way to marketing and financing projects, Mr. Glenn involves students with innovative experiential learning experiences currently aligned to industry standards. Mr. Glenn has students return to Ardrey Kell from college and say they were able to gain employment at school as lab assistants by teaching credential preparation for Auto CAD and Revit to junior and senior level college students. Mr. Glenn is also noted for supporting an active ACE Mentor program where several students have benefited from sizable scholarships over the years.
Mr. Glenn will represent Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in the state -level competition beginning later this spring throughout the summer. A state winner announced in Fall 2024.
