Michelle Edens is an example of what you look for in an educator. She is committed to her Agriculture program at Providence High School, her students, and other Ag teachers. District Ag Pathway Lead, Deepal Patel, shares this about Ms. Edens: ‘Ms.Edens is an ideal example of a CTE teacher bringing a robust CTE class experience for her students at Providence High School. She takes her love for plants, soil and expertise of over 20 years in landscape design for her Horticulture students. She challenges her students to go beyond curriculum mastery. Internships, work based learning, community service, career and college readiness through FFA club are all at the forefront of her instructional practices. She gives many hours outside of class leading students to plan and execute fundraiser projects such as the annual plant sales, designing and selling prom corsages and boutonnieres, and community service for middle and elementary students. She also leads the Agriculture pathway PLC supporting her colleagues across CMS and collectively creates possibilities for all students. Her program was approved for a Greenhouse project which will benefit her students with innovative industry techniques and partnerships that influence Agriculture and sustainability.’
Ms. Edens is a shining example of what is right in schools and what is amazing about CTE! We salute you!
